Here are a few thoughts about Holland Lops:
They are a popular pet because of their size and their excellent disposition.
They are cute, cuddly, and the most friendly pet you can ever have. They live
for over ten years, sometimes even longer depending on the circumstances of
their care. They are a 4 pound rabbit, about the size of some of the small
dog's. They are easy keepers with cats and other pet's. Any animal likes
attention, but just in increments. Many don't want to be handled for over an
hour, but do like brief sessions of hugs and kisses. My wife goes out in her
barn, open's doors and all the bunnies stick their heads out for treats and
kisses. Their diet consists of a complete pellet which gives them all the
nutrition they will need. You can supplement it with treats of apples, bananas,
raisins, cheerios, and shredded wheat. They also need a supply of good fresh
water every day. They don't get diseases but can carry ticks if they are let out
in the forest. They are susceptible to colds, and very prone to heat. A bunny
will die if left in the open sunlight at 90 degrees. Their ears are their
radiator, it is how they cool down. Direct sunlight isn't the best thing for
them. The best thing about owning a Holland is their loyalty, affection, and
loving nature. The worst thing is when they pass away and you miss an old
friend. The ideal owner for a Holland lop is someone who needs love, affection,
and a loyal companion in their lives. If a Holland lop could be human, it would
be a therapist, ironing out people's problems and giving affection and love. We
have had Holland lops for over twenty years. We have several bunnies always.
